Greetings from Martha’s Vineyard, where I am attending a wedding this weekend rather than San Diego ComicCon. My FOMO as I write this is palpable.
I write this having just delivered the Studio Outline for PROJECT FEDERAL, a pilot I’m writing for NBC. Studios, networks, and platforms are always against going public with “development” but leaks nevertheless happen every day. Why this one hasn’t leaked, I don’t know. Though I suspect it’s at least somewhat related to my reluctance to do so myself. It’s not that I’m not tempted myself, but I forbear because I don’t want to do things out of ego or a desire for press. Like a submarine, I prefer not to call attention to myself — this newsletter notwithstanding.
(BTW, this is no shade against the writers who like to do so. I think it’s important for publicity to remind the public that writers are out there and are an important part of the process of making television shows and movies.)
LEGENDS OF NEXT WEEK
Next Wednesday (7/30) sees the release of Justice League: Dark Tomorrow, a little tale I whipped up with the legendary Mark Waid. Buzz Comics has a preview:
Hmm. What’s that word — “legends” — doing on the cover?
I really don’t know.
SPIDER-MAN & WOLVERINE #3
Also out Wednesday is the third issue of Spider-Man & Wolverine with art by Kaare Andrews and Brian Reber. Graphic Policy has a preview (albeit a really short one):
BRING ON THE BAD GUYS: MEPHISTO
This comic isn’t out for over a month (August 27), but Graphic Policy (those guys again) have released a first look at the gorgeous art by Álvaro Lopez (who I collaborated with on Beware the Planet of the Apes):
SHOOTING MY MOUTH OFF
This week’s installment is brought to you by the amazing Heather Antos through Screen Crush:
Be good to each other.
Best,
Marc
