AN ANNOUNCEMENT?
Riddle me this… when is an announcement not an announcement?
I’ll put it another, less oblique way: I’ve periodically made reference to a new comic book project — specifically, an original graphic novel — as PROJECT ENCORE.
Well, it turns out that the graphic novel in question is already up on Amazon.
Well, there you have it: PROJECT ENCORE is an original graphic novel featuring the return of classic superspy SIMON CROSS, written by yours truly and beautifully illustrated by my Wolverine and Blade collaborator, the legendary Howard Chaykin. Dave Johnson was kind enough to illustrate the cover. It’s called Too Dead To Die.
And although I’m a firm believer that comic books should be conceived first and foremost as comic books, as it turns out — and quite by accident, I assure you — this particular project has already had the distinction of being sold to a major studio through an A-list director’s production company and starring an A-list movie star. I’m writing the screenplay as we speak and I couldn’t be more excited.
IN OTHER NEWS
Earlier this week, the news broke that I left William Morris Endeavor, my longtime agency, for CAA. If you’re so inclined, you can read about it here. Change is good and this move has me quite energized.
OTHER UPDATES
Today, I did lettering notes on Han Solo & Chewbacca Issue 6 and Fragmentation. I’m also applying pedal to metal on Star Wars: Revelations.
This week, I pitched PROJECT QUARTZ, a TV series, to the studio that owns the underlying intellectual property (a non-fiction book). I never know how these things go, but I’m told the pitch went well?
Next week, it’s all Revelations and Two Dead To Die — oh, and polishing the pitch for PROJECT EVERGREEN. Busy, busy, busy…
Be good to each other.
Best,
Marc
