Happy Wednesday.
I’m trying a new way of writing this newsletter by toggling back and forth between composing in Chrome and pulling content from Safari. (Not that you needed an insight into the fact that muscle memory ordinarily has me toggling between different applications rather than cycling through tabs/windows, but there you have it anyway. You’re welcome.)
Lots of little updates and whatnot, so let’s get to it…
LA LAW
On Monday, we finished casting all of our series regulars. We’ve made a few announcements — here and here — already, but there are more on the way.
We’ve also been aggressively location scouting, which had me walking into this very special building:
Growing up on the original LA Law, I will admit to a special kind of surreal thrill walking inside. If you had told 16 year old me that I’d be doing this one day, I’d have asked for some of whatever it was that you were smoking.
STAR WARS: HAN SOLO & CHEWBACCA
Last week I delivered the first draft of the script for Issue 4. It’s going to be a wild one.
We also sent off Issue 1 to the printers. Alex Sinclair is coloring this book and the reason he’s one of the best in the industry is evident on every single page. Because of the subcutaneous tracker/explosive they inserted in the base of my skull when I got this gig, I’m terrified of sharing any art that hasn’t been “officially” shared, but check out this goodness:
And there’s more where that came from in the wide-ranging interview I did with CBR.com which you can check out here.
LAST FLIGHT OUT
After a brief hiatus, Last Flight Out Issue 4 dropped a week ago last Wednesday. If you’re so inclined, you can buy a digital copy at Comixology by clicking here.
TROLLHUNTERS: RISE OF THE TITANS
Our VFX geniuses, Greg Lev and Brandon Tyra (hmm… Tyra, got to remember that name for Star Wars…) did an interview last week for Animation World Network about the bleeding edge innovations that they put into Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans. If you’re a fan of Trollhunters — or animation in general — you’ll definitely want to check it out here.
As we speak, Eduardo and Natália are working on Issue 6. I’m very excited to watch the climax of this one come together. We’re going out with a bang.
With all that said, I’ve got to head into the LA Law production office —
— so I’ll see you all later.
Be good to each other.
Best,
Marc
