As I write this, I’m sitting at an outdoor cafe in London. My wife, daughters, and mother-in-law are attending the Harry Styles concert tonight. I am not attending the concert with them for two reasons. First, there is zero chance Billy Joel will be making a surprise appearance (as he is performing with Stevie Nicks tonight at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia). Second, those tickets ain’t cheap and there’s a strike on.
So I’ve gotten an outdoor table at our hotel’s bar and I’m working myself up to starting a new novel. If I can’t write at an outdoor table with a glass of red wine in Europe, I really need to tear up my WGA card. (In truth, I’d have to cut it with scissors as one does an old credit card because the darn things are made of plastic these days. In related news, the WGA has seen fit to send me two. Just in case, I guess, I forget I’m a member.)
All of which is to say that this week’s edition is likely to be short. That novel ain’t gonna write itself.
SAID NOVEL
I actually have two that have caught purchase in my brain. For the nonce, the plan is to write them simultaneously until one catches fire and/or the one crashes and burns. One novel will be outlined and constructed. The other I’ll write from an opening scene that’s been taking shape in my head for a while now and then we’ll see where we go. It’s the latter that I’m going to embark on tonight, God willing and wine provided.
STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE - ECHOES
Last week, I mentioned how evidently and provably horrible I am at self-promotion because I failed to give advance notice on the publication of Yoda and the second volume of Han Solo & Chewbacca. Well, I’m doubling down this week, because this past Wednesday saw the release of the second issue of my Star Trek run. If you’re so inclined, you can check out a preview here.
This was a really fun issue to write. The reviews have been kind, especially from the folks at ComicsOnline. You can read their (very nice) review here.
No new comics coming out next week. (I checked this time.)
Be good to each other.
Best,

Marc, welcome to London! I just want to say, whilst I didn’t always agree with your creative decisions in the Arrowverse, you delivered something that felt worthy of the DC pantheon. After watching The Flash movie today, I have even more admiration for you and your team. You should be proud of the work you did, and I’m confident others feel the same, more so than ever.
I'm going to be in London tonight for a concert! Best of luck with the novels.
