Howdy.
Well, I just hit “send” on the latest draft of the screenplay for Too Dead To Die.
I know I probably wrote that, or something like it, only a few weeks ago, but such is the nature of notes and revisions. This latest round was just page notes, though one prompted me to do a minor restructure on the third act. All in all, I’m happy with the result.
TORRENT
Next Wednesday (3/22) sees the release of the second issue of Torrent, my superhero comic from Image with Justin Greenwood, Rico Renzi, and Keith Wood.
I think people are going to be shocked by how much story we push in this one issue. And I know folks will be stunned by the final panel. This is the issue that establishes that Torrent unfolds unlike any superhero comic you’ve read before.
Here’s a preview:
You can order from your local comic book store, or online at such places like Midtown Comics or Comixology.
ALLIANCE OF WOMEN DIRECTORS
An organization that I’ve been involved with for the better part of the past decade (wow, how time flies!) is the Alliance of Women Directors (AWD).
AWD is a 501c(3) that promotes women and gender nonbinary directors in film, television, commercials, and new media by providing education and professional support for members in the form of hands-on craft enrichment, mentorship, and education; developing and leveraging relationships with industry partners; and collaborating with like-minded organizations to increase our reach and impact. And it’s run and advised by some pretty wonderful and remarkable people.
AWD has recently launched a search for its next Executive Director, who will be instrumental in:
Raising funds to grow AWD.
Developing innovative ways to implement AWD’s goals and expand its impact on the entertainment industry.
Serve as an advocate for women and gender nonbinary directors.
Applications will be reviewed through April 15th, 2023. You can learn more about the ED position HERE.
A BEVY OF INTERVIEWS
I’m still doing the podcast rounds and a whole bunch hit this week.
The first one up is Star Wars Splash Page where I talk about Star Wars stuff (duh) and a bit about Torrent. You can give it a listen here.
Next, we have Capes & Tights, where I talked about — among other things — Torrent and Fragmentation. It’s available here.
I also spoke with Traversing the Stars about the Arrowverse and Torrent. Listen here.
And, finally, we have one with Part-Time Fanboy, where we talked about all my creator-owned comic book work lately (Torrent, Fragmentation, Last Flight Out, Too Dead To Die). You can check it out here.
THE LATEST FROM THE TRENCHES
As you know, I occasionally participate in a semi-weekly “written podcast” (at least, that’s what we call it) on writer-related issues. This week’s edition focused on issues regarding pay, including free work. You can give it a read here.
WORK UPDATE
On Monday, I delivered the script for the second issue of the mysterious Star Wars mini-series I’ve alluded to here. The art is coming in on Issue One and it’s simply amazing. Marvel editorial did a masterful job (as they always do) matching the project with the artist.
I’ve also started pitching the various TV projects I’ve been teasing here. PROJECT TWISTER was last week. This week, I’ve been pitching something I’m calling PROJECT SPEED. Both are extremely different genres and stories but it’s been fun to talk about each.
I also tweaked the synopsis of PROJECT EVERGREEN for some new potential partners. Hope springs eternal…
On the feature front, in addition to Too Dead To Die, I’m working on PROJECT MARBLE, a story which has be back in the the courtroom. Fun stuff.
Be good to each other.
Best,
Marc

I'll answer in this week's newsletter!
Thank you Marc! I have an Arrow question. What were the theme for each season of Arrow?
