This will be a short one this week ‘cause I ain’t got much to talk about.
I just hit “send” on the revised script for Star Wars: Revelations. Shockingly, LucasFilm’s notes didn’t include “Fire that guy.”
I’m pretty spent. As I’ve mentioned before, there’s a lot of higher level story and logistical math entailed in depicting events from comics that haven’t been drawn — and, in some cases, written — yet. And because I’m a glutton for punishment, I had an idea in the new draft that only adds to the degree of difficulty.
As I write this, I have the semi-final match between Frances Tiafoe and Carlos Alcaraz on in the background because the tennis match I was supposed to play in this evening got rained out.
(We’re still on serve — tied at 3-3 in the first set — as of this writing.)
This week has been almost exclusively focused on writing the screenplay for the feature adaptation of Too Dead To Die (available for pre-order now!). The response to last week’s announcement (you can read it here — this time with a link that actually works!) has been amazing. It’s probably the warmest reception I’ve received thus far to the announcement of a creator-owned comic book project. I’m excited and humbled.
(Ooo. Alcaraz has a break point…)
I did take some time out this week to write up an outline for a new comic book project. (I know, I know. I’m getting help, I swear.) This is another work-for-hire project with IP that is very near and dear to my heart.
(Okay, Tiafoe got out of that one.)
Anyways, let’s call this one PROJECT RAMBLE. The outline is for five issues, but there’s the possibility of more or even an ongoing.
That’s all I have for this week. I’m sure that there’s something I’m forgetting, but for now I’ll just wish you a pleasant weekend and return to watching the match.
(Tied up at 4-4 in the first set.)
Be good to each other.
Best,
Marc
