Okay, so I had to divide up this week’s newsletter due to length. This is Part 2. Part 1 can be read below.
HAN SOLO & CHEWBACCA / STAR WARS: REVELATIONS
This week saw the release of the penultimate issue of Han Solo & Chewbacca as well as the second printing of Star Wars: Revelations. The reason this is cool — and I really have to tip my hat to the great editors at Marvel who I work with — is that Marvel released both on the same day because they are surprisingly interconnected
In fact, with this issue of Han & Chewie you’ll see that the entire Star Wars line is interconnected in some very cool and unexpected ways — and those ways will build to some very big things in 2023. I’m grateful to be a part of it.
FROM THE TRENCHES
As I’ve mentioned in previous newsletters, I participate on occasion in another Substack called From The Trenches: Writers in Conversation. This week, we talked about lessons learned from the 2007/2008 Writers Guild Strike. You can check it out below:

The piece was picked up by Deadline.com. You can read the article here.
As you can see from the comments, reaction was… passionate in some cases. Despite making the point that there’s a certain segment of the WGA membership who needs to stop characterizing even the gentlest questioning of established Guild talking points as a betrayal or anti-union. It isn’t and we aren’t. But those members are loathe to be talked off their high horse. Such as this person (who is very active on Twitter and Facebook concerning Guild-related matters):
The problem is that this individual (who wasn’t even in the WGA in 2007/2008) seems to equate personal insults and name-calling with “criticism.”
Or maybe they’re just intentionally missing the point?
Well, that was a long one. So long I had to break it in two! (And then had to retype Part 2 due to a copy-and-paste snafu.) So I’ll leave you until next week.
Be good to each other.
Best,
Marc
