As the title indicates, this week’s edition of LegalDispatch is a big one — not so much in terms of huge news, but in terms of quantity. Two weeks have passed since the last edition (thank you, NYCC) and there’s lots to cover…
NEW YORK COMIC CON
I missed putting out this newsletter last week because I was at New York Comic Con, my first comic convention since the start of the pandemic.
It was wonderful to be able to see some folks in person who I haven’t seen in a long time, in some cases years and in other cases, never in person.
Although my “social calendar” was packed with such reunions, I kept my panel schedule to a minimum. In fact, I only did one: The LucasFilm Publishing Panel.
We talked about the many exciting books and comic books which LFL has up its sleeve for 2023. Among them, of course, is Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca and Star Wars: Revelations — both written by yours truly.
I’ve talked about these projects previously, but the rubber is really starting to hit the road on Revelations. This past week has been spent reviewing and revising letters and colors for 40 pages of material. As if depicting events from future comics — some of which haven’t even been illustrated yet — wasn’t enough, we have to coordinate the work among five different artists. The end result is eye-popping — it’s a truly gorgeous book — but I’m starting to bleed inside my skull a little. I hope people are pleased with the end result.
WORK UPDATE
This past Monday, I hit send on a proposal for something I’m calling PROJECT UNDERWORLD. It’s something a bit out of my normal lane, a murder mystery that isn’t a television show, movie, or comic book. Ooo. Mysterious...
This week, I also completed a first draft of the screenplay for Too Dead To Die. Up next is completing the backmatter and bonus features for the Too Dead To Die graphic novel.
FRAGMENTATION
Newsarama published a four-page preview of my upcoming original graphic novel, Fragmentation. You can check it out here.
Fragmentation will be available in comic shops January 25, 2023, and in bookstores February 7, 2023.
UPCOMING RELEASES
Fragmentation isn’t the only thing that’s dropping in the near future. It occurs to me that I have a fair amount of comics coming out in the next three months:
Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca #7 - November 16, 2022
Last Flight Out TPB - November 16, 2022
Star Wars: Revelations - November 23, 2022
Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca Vol. 1: The Crystal Run - November 23, 2022
Too Dead To Die - December 14, 2022
Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca #8 - December 28, 2022
IT’S ALL CONNECTED
Looking at the cover of Han & Chewie 8 reminds me to point out that I’ve actually been playing something of a long game with this series. It may present as a standalone — and can be read as such — but the urn that Han & Chewie have been after for the run of the series actually relates to stuff that connects to Revelations which, in turn, connects to… things I can’t talk about yet. The point is, it’s all connected. Fun stuff to follow if you’re so inclined.
A DECADE
I was so busy this past Monday flying back from New York, working, digging out from under emails, etc. that apart from a lovely text exchange with Stephen Amell and a phone call with Greg Berlanti, I didn’t have the time to adequately mark the occasion of the ten-year anniversary since the premiere of Arrow. It’s heady stuff. TVLine had a good piece on it here.
On a related point, a group of amazing fans have launched a Gofund me to celebrate Arrow’s tenth anniversary and — more importantly — raise money for FuckCancer. This is a terrific initiative and I’m supporting it by donating a framed script cover signed by the Arrow cast. Please consider making a donation here.
That same group of fans — I told you they’re amazing — put together an equally-amazing package of interviews with cast and crew to mark the occasion. You can check them all out here.
Well, that’s it for this week. See you next Friday.
Be good to each other.
Best,
Marc

Arrow was so awesome. #MADOLDNUT donated $150k to F Cancer for the Gala, so don't get mad if we don't add to the GoFundMe :P
